With writing, film and TV credits to her name - British actress Hayley Squires is readily proving herself one to watch, and with her casting in Ken Loach's new project she now looks set to cement that success.

The south Londoner may already be recognisable to some having previously starred in Call The Midwife and Brit flick Blood Cells, however Squires has also proven herself to be a talented playwright. In 2012 her debut play Vera Vera Vera showed at the Royal Court as part of the Young Writers Festival winning acclaim from critics including The Telegraph's Charles Spencer, who said Squires had 'a wise compassion about her writing that strikes me as remarkable', and the following year her radio play The Educator debuted on BBC Radio 3. The hard-working Rose Bruford College graduate hasn’t stepped away from acting however, her casting in Loach’s I, Daniel Blake – currently filming – sees her starring opposite Dave Johns playing a single mother in a tale about welfare bureaucracy.
